Since 1934 Amateur Players of Sherborne have presented over 155 plays. The first of these was Tons of Money, and we recently celebrated our 75th anniversary by staging a revival of the same play. On this page are links to photo galleries of recent productions and a complete list of all our productions from 1934 to the present day.
Some of our plays have won awards. In 1982 Lance Salway’s adaptation of The Woodlanders won the Bristol Evening Post Best Production award, and the same award was given to Jennie Ward’s production of Gaslight in 1985. Other plays that accumulated awards include You Never Can Tell (1987), Pity About Kitty (1996), Trelawny of The “Wells” (1996), Lunch Hour (1997), Arcadia (1999), The Tempest (1999), Hamlet (2001) and The Old Country (2003). Recently, The Wind in the Willows (2011) gained the Rose Bowl John Coe Award for Best Dramatic Production and our Secretary, Adrian Thorpe won the John Lewis Award for the Best Actor for his role as Toad in the same production. |
